Algeria Foot – Having tried everything to integrate him into their team, Morocco failed to convince Lamine Yamal, who is now shining with Spain during this Euro 2024.
Lamine Yamal, a 16-year-old prodigy playing for FC Barcelona, is currently shining with the Spanish national team at the Euro. However, his participation in this competition could have never materialized. Of Moroccan origin on his father’s side, Yamal has long been courted by the Atlas Lions. According to Revelo, Morocco has had numerous discussions with the young player and his father in the hope of convincing him to join their ranks.
Despite these persistent requests, it was finally Albert Luque, then director of the Spanish national team, who managed to enlist the young talent. Unlike his father, Lamine Yamal quickly expressed his desire to represent La Roja, having already climbed all the ranks of the Spanish youth teams. He even confided to Luque: “Albert, don’t worry, I want to win the next Euro, and I can only do that with Spain.”
To achieve this dream, Lamine Yamal and his teammates will first have to overcome the German obstacle in the quarter-finals of the Euro this Friday in Stuttgart. The outcome of this match could well determine whether the young star will succeed in realizing his ambition of triumphing with Spain on the European stage.
