The French Athletics Championships are being held in Angers from June 28 to 30. More than 600 of the best French athletes are expected. Among them is Orlann Olière from Senone. She knows that she will go to the Olympic Games this summer, she has qualified with her teammates from the French team for the 4×100 meters relay. She still has the challenge of the individual, to be qualified, she must do her 100 meters in less than 11.07 seconds.

For Franck Elemba, on the other hand, it is the last chance competition: to hope to participate in the Olympic Games, the shot putter must succeed in achieving a score of 21.50 meters, while his record is 21.20 meters, it was at the Rio games in 2016. He then finished fourth, missing the podium by sixteen centimeters. The minimum to achieve to get a ticket has increased, it was 21.10 meters for the Tokyo Games in 2020.

Training and bad weather

Training has been tough for both athletes in recent months. The Senonese athlete trains most of the time at INSEP (National Institute of Sport, Expertise and Performance) in Paris, sometimes in Sens: “it was cold, it rained a lot and it “It’s complicated to find good conditions over a 100 meters when you don’t have good weather.” Same for Franck Elemba “the weights weigh seven kilos, we place them between the shoulder and the neck, we put magnesia for a better grip, but as soon as it rains a little, it’s much more difficult to grip” , he says. However, he says he is “in better shape than ever.” He will face his competitors at 6:00 p.m. on June 29 in Angers. Orlann Olière runs at 6:40 p.m. and the women’s 100 meter final is at 8:25 p.m. The competition can be followed live on the team channel.
