Formula 1 is on Red Bull land this weekend, on the Red Bull Ring track in Austria. A weekend that breaks away from the traditional format with only the race on Sunday. This afternoon, it’s time for the sprint race and its precious points to collect.
30 minutes of racing with eight points for first, that’s what the sprint race is all about. A format which offers two races in the weekend, fighting on a circuit with overtaking possibilities. An interesting format for the show and a race that could be important.
“I don’t think about the title all the time. I move forward race by race”
Especially in view of a duel between Max Verstappen, who will start first, with at his side the strong man of the moment, the Briton, Lando Norris, author of five podiums in the last six Grand Prix. But can he become a title contender? That is not what concerns him at the moment.
“I don’t think about the title all the time. I advance race by race. We get to a level where we have a car to win and a team to win. Now you have to get there! When you know you’re there capable, you are not happy to finish second or third I just have to give my best every weekend”, explains the McLaren driver, speaking to Canal +. He will be able to count on his teammate, Oscar Piastri, in third position ahead of George Russell, Carlos Sainz, Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Pérez.
Alpine, for its part, is getting back into shape. Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly will start eighth and ninth respectively. Charles Leclerc, victim of a problem with his car, will only start from tenth place.
