Ligue 1 is panicking for Yvann Maçon

Two seasons after experiencing historic relegation, AS Saint-Étienne will return to Ligue 1 next August. A success for the Stéphanois who still had to go through the Ligue 2 play-offs before winning against FC Metz to validate their accession to the elite and confirm the descent of the Grenats. However, after a season full of twists and turns which remains very good overall, ASSE will have to manage this summer transfer window perfectly in order not to make a comeback next season and remain in the elite.

Yvann Maçon wants to stay

On the arrivals side, the Greens seem to be following several leads while Yunis Abdelhamid should bring his experience in defense and the New Zealander Ben Old seems well on his way to strengthening Olivier Dall’Oglio’s attacking sector. But on the departures side, ASSE could well see its right-back leave in the person of Yvann Maçon. Indeed, the 25-year-old defender is said to be courted by several Ligue 1 clubs according to information from Foot Mercato. While he is under contract until 2025, the player would like to stay with the Greens but is still waiting for an offer of an extension which seems slow in coming. With 21 matches played this season, Maçon has mainly participated in 17 of the 18 matches of the return phase and in all of ASSE’s play-off matches and could therefore be a heavy loss for Saint-Étienne.

As a supporter of En Avant de Guingamp, the best of the Breton clubs, I prefer to meet Yannis Salibur, Cristophe Kerbrat or Jeremy Sorbon rather than Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi or Sergio Ramos.
