The National League regains its rights
The adventure of the LHC in CHL having ended following the elimination of the Lions against Genève-Servette HC, all the concentration is now on the National League. Currently tied for third on points with ZSC Lions and HC Davos, the LHC is doing well in the championship, despite the sequence of matches. The sustained pace imposed on the teams also involved in the European scene has not had a negative impact on Geoff Ward’s men who have managed to make an impression since the start of the season.
The team with the most wins in regulation time (11), the Lions are also the team with the most shutouts since the start of the season (4). A defensive solidity which has however been under alternating current recently with a series of very good performances and slight slumps. To continue its positive momentum, the Lausanne players must regain the defensive serenity that characterized them. The first match between the two teams of the season ended in one of the best victories for the Lausanne Hockey Club with a score of 6-0 in front of the public at the Vaudoise arena. On a series of 5 consecutive victories against Friborg players in the National League, the Lions will have to give everything to continue this good current series.

During the LHC’s big victory against the Dragons last October, the Lions’ victory was partly thanks to the great success of our players in special situations. With three goals scored in powerplay, by Ken Jaeger (doubled) and Michael Hügliour Lions were able to take advantage of the opposing team’s indiscipline to turn the match around in their favor. Very solid in defense and during boxplay, Geoff Ward’s men had protected perfectly Kevin Pasche who had achieved one of his four shutouts in the National League that evening.
Author of two goals this Wednesday in the CHL against Genève-Servette, Damien Riat is having a slightly less good period in the National League. Scorer during the last opposition against Fribourg-Gottéron, the number 9 of the LHC will have to take inspiration from this match to find the net again.
Between the CHL matches against the Swedish team Vaxjo, HC Fribourg-Gottéron returned to success in the National League last week with two victories against SC Bern and HC Davos. Contested and close meetings where the new foreign striker of the Dragons, Jakob Lilja was able to shine by scoring his first two goals in his new colors. The Swedish striker who recently arrived from HC Ambri-Piotta is not the only new arrival in the squad led by Patrick Emond.
