Martin still leads the championship
Jorge Martin totals 171 points after an Italian Grand Prix marked by his first abandonment in sprint race this season. Before Mugello, the Spaniard had a 39-point lead, thanks to a perfect weekend at Le Mans and big points scored in Barcelona. However, despite some flashes on Sunday at Mugello, his lead was reduced to 18 points after the exceptional weekend of his rival, Francesco Bagnaia. Without a victory in the last two Grands Prix, Jorge Martín will do everything this weekend to once again establish his domination!
Sin in attack mode!
The reigning world champion experienced a difficult start to the season, with an abandonment in Portugal and a discreet weekend in Austin. Three consecutive failures in sprint races at Jerez, Le Mans and Barcelona made the Ducati rider doubt, but as in 2023, Pecco was able to rediscover all his magic on Sunday. Wet to won three of the last four main racesincluding his magnificent double at Mugello, reducing the gap to 18 points with Jorge Martín before this weekend. He is the favorite for this new event on the legendary Assen circuit, where he won the last two editions.
