When will Bronny James make his Lakers debut?

Last night, Bronny James was selected with the 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron James’ son could make his debut in the Purple and Gold uniform as early as early July.

When will we be able to see Bronny James with a Lakers jersey on his shoulders? First possibility: very soon.

From July 6, the Los Angeles Lakers enter the competition in the California Classic Summer Leaguea small four-day tournament to get the youngsters in their legs. The program:

  • 6 juillet : Sacramento Kings – Los Angeles Lakers
  • 7 juillet : Los Angeles Lakers – Golden State Warriors
  • 10 juillet : Los Angeles Lakers – Miami Heat

But if Bronny James doesn’t participate in this first tournament, he could make his debut starting Friday, July 12, 2024 during the Summer League. As is tradition, franchises launch their rookies, sophomores and G League players into a summer competition as a preview of the regular season.

In a first match between the Houston Rockets and the Los Angeles Lakers, Reed Sheppard (pick 3) and Dalton Knecht (pick 17) should make their debut with their respective teams. But THE All eyes will undoubtedly be on Bronny James, selected by the Lakers last night. Magic Johnson is almost already in front of his TV.

Congratulations to Bronny James on being drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers! This is a historic moment because LeBron and Bronny are the first father-son duo to play in the NBA at the same time and on the same team. Beyond the link with LeBron James, the Summer League will be particularly anticipated by many observers still doubtful about the level of Bronny James. After a truncated start to the season with the Trojans, the combo guard didn’t really give satisfaction in the NCAA. In 25 games, he averaged 4.8 points (36% shooting, 26% 3-point), 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists.

However, we will have to wait a little longer before seeing Bronny and LeBron play together. On July 12, the King will already be preparing for the Olympic Games with Team USA. Perhaps he will set the alarm around 4 a.m. so as not to miss any of his son’s exploits? We’ve already offered him an invitation to an Allez Café if that’s the case.

The start of the 2024-25 regular season, and a potential magical father-son moment, is still months away. But until then, watching Bronny James in Summer League will likely be worth its weight in peanuts.
