For the second time in a month, residents of Bernieulles, Cormont, Hubersent, Widehem, Lefaux, and Frencq (hamlet of Le Turne) should not consume tap water. Analyzes carried out by the ARS at the end of last week on a tap located in the Widehem school showed that the water was contaminated with Escherichia coli bacteria and coliform bacteria.
Distribution of bottled water
Residents are prohibited from drinking tap water, as well as using it for washing teeth, preparing food and washing raw vegetables. However, they can wash themselves, use it for laundry, dishes or even the toilet. The urban community of the two bays in Montreuillois organized the distribution of 15,000 bottles of water, at a rate of two bottles per inhabitant per day. They are available in the town halls of the municipalities concerned.
Twice in a month
New samples must be taken this Monday afternoon by the Regional Health Agency. The city intervened by increasing the chlorination of water networks.
This is the second time in a month that this type of pollution occurs, already on November 6, samples showed a bacteria level slightly above the threshold. The city does not know where this pollution could come from, and the causes could be multiple.
