The Citadins women’s Volleyball team is having some excellent times these days. Alain Pelletier’s troop defeated the Rouge et Or of Laval University in Quebec on November 15, and the Patriotes of UQTR in Trois-Rivières on November 17. These successes bring the Citadins’ series of victories to three.
The Uqam team played a strong match in front of more than 1,800 spectators in the stands of the PEPS at Laval University. After losing the first set 23-25, the Citadins turned things around and won the next three sets 25-21, 25-19 and 27-25. “At the start of the season, we used the fact that we were a young team learning to explain our defeats,” said the head coach. We recently changed our talk to practice harder and harder and play better and better. We want to improve with every game.”
The Citadins then played one of their best matches of the season against the Patriotes, winning three clear sets of 25-13, 25-20 and 25-16.
Attacker Jade Généreux particularly stood out during the weekend. The Bachelor of Science in Accounting student made 22 kills and 7 aces, while being very effective in receiving service.
The Citadins now occupy fourth place in the general classification with 10 points in 8 matches. The team will face the two best teams in Quebec next weekend, namely the Carabins of the University of Montreal, on November 22, at CEPSUM, and the Vert & Or of the University of Sherbrooke, on November 24, at UQAM sports center.
