While in Manaus, Joe Biden called his secretaries at the White House and gave permission for Ukraine to use long-range missiles against Russian territory if the country deems it necessary.

The relevance: The weapons were supplied by the Americans to the Ukrainian troops, but, at first, they were in stand-by and the use of full power was completely prohibited.

  • Now, in practice, the war could no longer be concentrated on the territory of Ukraine and expand beyond Russian borders — placing the war that has lasted almost 3 years at its most tense level yet.

Why this change of stance? The trigger for the American government to put caution aside and go into full power mode alongside Ukraine was the sending of troops from North Korea to fight alongside the Russians.

This shows how a war that, in theory, only involves two countries began to take on greater dimensions in geopolitics. While the US, EU and NATO are with Zelensky, Putin seeks support from North Korea and China.

✍️ Between the lines… Biden gave the OK with two more months left as president. When Trump takes office, it is very likely that American financial and military support for Ukraine will be reduced considerably.

The long-range missiles reach more than 300km away, and Pentagon officials expect the first Ukrainian strike against the Russians to take place in the coming days.
