Laurent Brun was invited to take stock of the 2023-2024 season for each Girondins de Bordeaux player. Then came the turn of Bordeaux number 10, Gaétan
Weissbeck.
While everyone was happy to see him sign in Gironde, the player loaned by Sochaux with an option to buy (€1.2M) took time to find his feet. The fault lies in a time of adaptation, in a positioning which was not his, and also in his individual performances, without obviously forgetting those of his team. In the end, he finished his season with four goals and four assists.
“I am very, very disappointed with this player. There, we are also talking about a technical player, who, for me, should bring a lot more. He scored goals, great goals, but I didn’t find him good enough in combativeness, in creativity, in relay… I was happy that this player signed for the Girondins, and I won’t be unhappy if ‘he’s leaving. There is nothing human in what I say, I really only talk about the player. Either you stay and show something else – even if there is a call option to exercise – or you leave and good luck going to play elsewhere.”
