Through his own experience, he tells us behind the scenes and the stages of a summer transfer window. As a reminder, the 2024 summer transfer window began on June 10 and will end on August 30 at 11:00 p.m. Here are some excerpts:

“The timing of a summer transfer window is very annoying”

Christophe Hutteau: “The timing of a summer transfer window is very annoying. It will move, accelerate until the clubs resume training (early July). Typically, nothing more happens until the last week of August. And I never understood this despite my experience. I don’t understand how a club can wait until the last week of the transfer window to take action or do everything to bring in the player. I think it’s a shame, it’s a waste of time for the club, which will spend a lot of money.”

“This can be destabilizing for the club that the player is leaving because the club will not necessarily have planned for the departure of its player. Finally, it is also destabilizing for the player because he will not have done the summer preparation. However, we know that summer preparation is crucial to the success of a season.”

“You must never forget that the agent is there to represent the player who has placed his trust in you”

He pursues : “The transfer window period, therefore the negotiation period, is the recording chamber of the work that has been done throughout the season. There is no particular secret. There is just one course to maintain. Even if you try to satisfy all parties, you must never forget that the agent is there to represent the player who has placed his trust in you. Therefore, the player’s interest must take priority over all other considerations. But, always being reasonable. You can’t ask for anything. Otherwise, you are going to clash.”
