Picked in Uzbekistan, a recruit is announced for OL – Olympique Lyonnais

According to Uzbek media, Olympique Lyonnais will register the signing of young Bekhruz Djumatov this summer. The central defender at the end of his contract with FC Olympic (Uzbek D1) himself “liked” a publication announcing his arrival at the Rhone club.

This is undoubtedly not the most anticipated arrival among Olympique Lyonnais supporters. But according to the Uzbek media Legionares, the club led by John Textor will recruit the young Bekhruz Djumatov. This obviously unknown 18-year-old central defender played until now at FC Olympic (Uzbek D1) where he is reaching the end of his contract. This talent would therefore be attracted as a free player. Note that the Uzbek U20 international would have “liked” a publication on Instagram announcing his signing with Les Gones.

We will of course have to wait for confirmation from other sources and especially that from Olympique Lyonnais. Without the slightest experience at the high level, Bekhruz Djumatov would surely not be a recruit for the professional group led by coach Pierre Sage. At least not at first. If confirmed, his signing would seem more like a bet on the future. The young Uzbek could therefore join the reserve team which plays in National 3. And this even if the first team will perhaps need one or more reinforcements in this central defender position.

Departures from the central hinge?

Departures are indeed to be expected in this sector of play. Surprise starter alongside Duje Caleta-Car, Irishman Jake O’Brien has increased his rating on the transfer market and will not necessarily be retained. We can also cite the undesirables Dejan Lovren and Sinaly Diomandé, both under contract until 2025. Finally, the Brazilian Adryelson has failed to establish himself since his arrival last January. His departure would not be a surprise either.
