The Swiss women’s team, led by skip Silvana Tirinzoni, successfully entered the Europeans in Lohja in Finland. The defending champions beat the Danes 4-2 then Norway 9-4.
Alina Pätz, who plays the last two stones every time for the CC Aarau team, was very solid in the ninth end. With the score at 2-2 after seven innings, the Swiss scored a run in the eighth end before stealing a rock in the ninth. The Danes were unable to come back in the tenth.
In the evening, the Aargians then dominated Norway. By scoring a four in the 9th end, Silvana Tirinzoni and her teammates forced their opponents to throw in the towel prematurely.
The Swiss easy against Denmark
The Swiss from CC Genève were even more expeditious in winning 7-1 against Denmark, who gave up after the seventh end. Yannick Schwaller, Benoît Schwarz-Van Berkel, Sven Michel and Pablo Lachat-Couchepin scored three stones in the seventh end to force the decision. They already led 4-0 after four ends.
