Why does the cause of the Lazare association affect you?
“Apart from the solidarity rally event and the support for local associations, it is the existence of Lazare, this large shared accommodation between street people and young professionals that drives us. Emanating from an international association founded by two French people in 2010 “to live together and change the way the world sees the street”, the Maison Lazare d’Angers was created in September 2014 and since 2021 has occupied part of the remarkable Bon building. Pastor. Here, around fifteen “roommates” agree to try the experience of living together, paying the same rent.
How can we describe this large family of roommates?
“On site, the shared accommodation of men is well separated from that of women with a family with responsible children who watches over everyone for 3 years. No TV, which would prevent discussion, we share meals, small crafts, cleaning, activities, like in a family home. Among the very endearing oldest, Freddy, 55 years old, the DJ from Lazare who told us that the street was made for no one, Stéphane who is good at mechanics, or Baptiste, 84 years old who walks every day in this green setting. The association is open every 1st Sunday of the month at snack time to make yourself known.”
Regardless of your budget, what do you need?
“1,200 crews aged 18 to 28 will travel 6,500 km to reach Morocco from Biarritz. The budget of €15,000 must finance the vehicle, its working condition, gasoline, our two registrations as competitors, the sleeping tent, food and school supplies which will be given to local associations. The money obtained, in addition to donations and sponsors, will be donated to Lazare Angers to maintain the accommodation. The 4L Rosette must attract attention during the race, find volunteers among young people, there are Lazare houses all over France and abroad.”
