A smooth entry. The Red Star (L 2) won easily (1-7) among the northern amateurs of Haubourdin (Regional 3) this Saturday during the 7th round of the Coupe de France. The Audoniens only experienced a small moment of fear, when the eighth division team equalized with a free kick a quarter of an hour into the game. But the Seine-Saint-Denis club recovered the advantage at the half hour, on a set piece concluded by Josué Escartin before taking off at the start of the second half, thanks in particular to a hat-trick from his striker Ivann Botella who had not scored a goal in the championship this season.
In the next round, Red Star could well play a 93 derby since it will face the winner of the match between Bobigny (N 2) and Labourse (D 1 Artois) this Sunday. “We were serious while showing a good image,” says coach Grégory Poirier. We started the match well but then conceded an avoidable goal. This is unacceptable. Otherwise, we were very professional and the offensive players gained confidence, that was the objective. We have to quickly switch to the championship, they are not the same issues. On the L 2 it will be a marathon, we will have to scrape points like in Pau. »
Relegated to L 2 (17th) for the first time after its setback last week against Troyes (0-3), Red Star will try to make up for it next Friday in Pau (11th), for the 14th day.
