The training center among the best in France!

ASSE is back in Ligue 1, after two seasons in the antechamber of the elite of French football. Training will be at the heart of the new project led by Ivan Gazidis and his men over the coming years. The various youth teams have also done well this season, including a play-off semi-final for the U17 Nationals. This is confirmed by the ranking of French training centers from the French Football Federation (and its sometimes criticized criteria), published very recently.

Effectiveness criteria

The effectiveness of training centers is evaluated in this FFF ranking via five criteria: professionalization, playing time in the first team, national selections, education, European representation. Each of these criteria is rated out of five stars. This then makes it possible to classify the different training centers, with an overall rating also out of five stars.

Best second division training center

ASSE finished in first place among Ligue 2 training centers (3.5 stars out of 5), tied with the Girondins de Bordeaux, and just ahead of Valenciennes and Auxerre (3 stars).

Nationally, the Greens are only ahead of Stade Rennais (4.5 stars), Olympique Lyonnais (4 stars) and Paris Saint-Germain (4 stars). The training centers in Monaco, Lille, Nantes and Toulouse are on par with those in Saint-Etienne and Bordeaux.

Compared to last year, ASSE keeps the same overall number of stars. In detail, the Greens lose one star in professionalization (4 compared to 5 last year) and 0.5 stars in playing time with the first team (2.5 stars compared to 3 last year). The Stéphanois training center, however, gains a star in the national selection criteria (4.5 compared to 3.5 last year). Regarding education (3 stars) and European representation (3.5 stars), ASSE does not change compared to the 2022-2023 financial year.
