Jérémy Desplanches qualified easily for the semi-finals of the 200m medley on Saturday at the Europeans in Belgrade. Gian-Luca Gartmann (also 200m medley), Thierry Bollin, in the 100m backstroke, and Fanny Borer, in the 200m butterfly, will also try to get their ticket to the final in the evening.

Fourth in the 2022 Europeans in Rome, Jérémy Desplanches set the 8th fastest time in the series in 2’01”32. Unlike the Worlds in Fukuoka in 2023 and Doha last February, he was content to ensure his qualification for the semi-finals without seeking the Olympic limit (1’57”94) from the series.

The almost 30-year-old Genevan, who hopes to gain momentum and put out THE race he needs on Sunday in the final, will be accompanied by Gian-Luca Gartmann (14th in 2’01”58) in the semi-finals. 3rd Swiss entered in the distance, Marius Toscan on the other hand failed in these series (22nd in 2’04”44).

In the 100m backstroke, Thierry Bollin easily qualified for the semi-finals with the 10th time (54”96). Flavio Bucca (25th in 56”52) however stops there, as does Tiago Behar in 50m freestyle (64th in 23”48). For her part, Fanny Borer, 18th out of the 19 starters in the 200m butterfly series, will see the rest of the competition.
