Last January, Yorbe Vertessen decided to leave PSV to join Union Berlin. A surprising choice since the Belgian striker left a club at the top of its championship for a club which was hoping to stay in the Bundesliga.
He does not regret his choice
In an interview with Eindhovens Dagblad, the 23-year-old striker returned to this choice: “We were leading the championship with PSV but I still decided to leave and I don’t regret this choice. I’m happy that my former teammates won the title. They deserved it.”
His debut in Germany was a bit difficult: “We had to fight until the end to stay in the Bundesliga. Fortunately, this season is going much better. I’m doing well here. Union Berlin is a friendly club, like PSV.”
Statistics
Since his arrival at Union Berlin, Vertessen has played 25 matches, scored 5 goals and provided 2 assists. A correct assessment given his playing time (he is decisive every 167 minutes, editor’s note).
For information, the native of Tienen is linked to Union Berlin until June 2028. His value is estimated at 5 million euros.
