The 92nd edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans is keeping its promises so far

Three manufacturers – Toyota ahead of Porsche and Ferrari – remained in the fight at dawn on Sunday on the completely wet Sarthe circuit.

The light had great difficulty piercing the Sarthois sky. At 6:00 a.m., the famous Le Mans track had been idling for more than two hours, the race having been neutralized due to rain, a decision rendering the gaps between the cars null and void.

In front of stands largely deserted by spectators during the night, many going to sleep a few hours, the Toyota no. 8 – of which Sébastien Buemi is one of the drivers – led the pack of 19 Hypercars still officially racing in the premier category, closely followed by the Porsche no. 6 started on pole 14 hours earlier.

The other Toyota entered in the premier category, No. 7, was 3rd. The Ferrari no. 83, long in the lead, occupied provisional 5th place in the early morning after receiving a 30-second penalty for causing a collision with the BMW no. 15. This accident which occurred on Saturday evening had caused the first appearance safety cars.

Very open competition

Proof that in the elite, the competition – which was announced to be open – still keeps all its promises ten hours from the finish: four of the nine manufacturers entered in Hypercar occupied the provisional Top 10. In addition to the two Toyotas, the three Ferraris and three of the six Porsches present in the premier category, the two Cadillacs were 7th and 9th places at dawn.
