Manchester City lost 2-1 on the Brighton pitch on Saturday November 9 during the 11th day of the Premier League. This is the fourth defeat in a row for Pep Guardiola’s men.
Manchester City is in crisis. The club conceded its fourth defeat in a row on Saturday November 9 by losing 2-1 against Brighton in the Premier League (11th day), a first under the orders of Pep Guardiola. The Mancunian club was coming out of a scathing 4-1 loss in Lisbon against Sporting CP in the Champions League, after losing against Bournemouth in the league (2-1) and Tottenham in the League Cup (2-1).
The Skyblues however led thanks to a goal from Erling Haaland in the 23rd minute. But everything collapsed in the space of five minutes, first with the equalizer signed João Pedro (78th), who then delivered an assist for Matt O’Riley (83rd). The ten minutes of added time were not enough for the defending champion to equalize.
Never seen before for Guardiola at Manchester City
Manchester City remains in 2nd place in the Premier League table. But the club risks seeing Liverpool take a five-point lead. For Brighton, this surprise victory allows them to temporarily climb to 4th place.
This is the worst series of defeats suffered by Pep Guardiola since he took charge of Manchester City. This had only happened to him once before: in 2015 with Bayern Munich (two defeats in the league, one in the Champions League, another in the German Cup).
