“Football in Guadeloupe now is male and female” Julie Petrus, player and president of the Increvables club

Her name is Julie Petrus and she was born with a soccer ball in her crib. A player, she has also managed for 8 years, AS les Increvables, a women’s club in . Today she defends that in Guadeloupe, football is available for men and women but deplores that the women’s regional matches are not yet sufficiently publicized.

Football for Julie Petrus is a great love story. A player since childhood, she has also been president of AS les Increvables for 8 years, a women’s football club in Moule. On weekends, she spends them on the pitch, always available and always ready to accompany the young girls. For her, it’s even a source of pride.

We always say that football is masculine. I would now say that football is masculine and feminine. We can’t make a difference.

Julie Petrus, president of AS les Increvables

The football, as long as she can remember, Julie has always had it on her feet. Her mother is a former player at the club and she followed in her footsteps. On Sundays, when she was little, her mother took her to the soccer fields in her stroller. She always knew it was a sport for girls and boys.

In 2023, the girls participated for the first time in French Cup matches in Guadeloupe. They now have their R1 championship and there are 11 teams. The ambition this season for the Increvables is to be in the top 5 of the table. Julie’s only regret is that women’s football in Guadeloupe is not as publicized as men’s football. She says it and she is right: “girls have talent…like boys!”
