Beaten 1-0 last Sunday in Lausanne in a Lake Geneva derby where they were largely dominated, the Servettians are one step behind FCZ and Lugano. The Garnets therefore have the opportunity to regain the lead, temporarily in any case since Lugano will travel to Bern on Sunday to challenge Young Boys.
Servette, who saw a series of eight matches without defeat in the league end at La Tuilière, returns to Zurich for the second time in thirteen days. Thomas Häberli’s players won 3-1 at Letzigrund on Sunday October 27, flying through the proceedings thanks in particular to a double from Dereck Kutesa.
This victory allowed SFC to take control of the Super League. But the Garnets paid off for the efforts made that day during the “English week” which followed, with a draw conceded in Geneva against Lucerne four days later then this setback in Lausanne last Sunday. Will they be able to react?
Two other matches are scheduled for Saturday, at 6 p.m. Sixth, just five points from the lead, Lausanne faces Winterthur at the Schützenwiese in a match that has all the trappings of it: LS remains on four wins in a row while Winti is in last place after losing three of its last four matches.
Fourth with three points behind the leaders, FC Basel travels to Yverdon. The Rhinelanders have won four of their last five matches to assert themselves as outsiders in this very open championship. The Yverdonnois, 8th but five points behind 6th Lausanne, remain with two defeats in a row.
