Otto Addo, chose to entrust the captain’s armband to Jordan Ayew for the next qualifying matches for CAN 2025. In the absence of Thomas Partey, the Black Stars coach estimated that Mohammed Kudus, despite his potential, would not was not yet ready to fully assume this leadership role.

During the last double match against Sudan, the choice of Kudus as captain attracted criticism, particularly because of the sidelining of more experienced players like Jordan Ayew and Alexander Djiku. This time around, Addo ruled in favor of Ayew, saying Kudus still needed to develop his captaincy skills.

“Jordan Ayew will be the captain of the Black Stars in the absence of Thomas Partey, because I think Mohammed Kudus still has a lot to learn to be captain”said Addo, recalling that leadership takes time and experience.

The Black Stars begin their preparation this Sunday in Accra, before traveling to Luanda to face Angola on November 15. They will then host Niger Republic at the Accra Sports Stadium three days later.
