Apart from the package for the entire final phase of pillar Louis Penverne, La Rochelle should appear on Saturday evening at Mayol with the same team as that lined up against Racing a week earlier. The possible return of Pierre Bourgarit will not take place during this barrage in Toulon either. When other executives will have to wait until next season.

The maritime group which will fly to Toulon on Saturday morning, from La Rochelle – Île de Ré airport, promises to be identical to the one who challenged Racing 92 to complete last weekend – thanks to a 24-19 victory – the club’s qualification for the caravel in the final phase. Unless there is a last minute package, only Louis Penverne will be missing.

Victim of a sprained ankle during the reception of the Ile-de-France residents, the left pillar still under hopeful contract has finished his good season, which saw him blossom with the first team. Present at a press conference this Thursday at the end of a training session which he judges “serious”, attack coach Sébastien Boboul also confirmed the end of the season for Paul Boudehent (hamstrings) and Ultan Dillane (knee). Ditto for Raymond Rhule who “is slowly recovering but has struggled to come back from his knee injury. We hope to have him as we knew him next season.”

Haddad and Bourgarit still hoped for

If the withdrawal of Matthias Haddad, concussed in Toulouse, has not yet been recorded with a view to a possible Top 14 final although strongly anticipated, the La Rochelle staff also retains a hope of finding Pierre Bourgarit, whose return is constantly postponed since the beginning of May. “Pierre still has some discomfort, particularly when throwing (in touch, Editor’s note)”, slips the technician who leaves little doubt about his absence at Mayol, barring injury among the hookers.

He’s not 100%. At this time of the season, we need 100% players. He continues to train, we are trying to find out if he can apply because we know the importance of Pierre within the group and his leadership. But it won’t be this weekend. Maybe next weekend (in the semi-final, against Toulouse), maybe not. But he’s there just in case, because injuries happen every weekend. So it’s good that he’s still here and can potentially play the next games.”
