Yesterday evening, the French team offered a sad performance to the spectators at Matmut Atlantique in Bordeaux. Didier Deschamps’ players could not do better than a draw against Canada (0-0) which leaves some questions one week before the start of their Euro. On the other hand, one thing was not missed: the tribute to Olivier Giroud, the number 9 of the Blues who played his last match with the French team on French soil, given a standing ovation by the Bordeaux public during the evening, and in particular when he came out in the second period.

The locker room demanded that Giroud be captain

A tribute which was accompanied by a very nice gesture from the France group. Indeed, while Antoine Griezmann was present at the start of the match unlike Kylian Mbappé on the bench, it was Olivier Giroud who wore the captain’s armband.
