The St. Louis Blues’ 4-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs was costly Saturday night at the Enterprise Center.
In the second period, defenseman Philip Broberg suffered a lower body injury and it appears to be quite serious. See the sequence in the main video.
After hitting the back, Leafs forward Mitch Marner fell on his right leg. Broberg was assisted by his team’s medical staff to leave the ice surface. His team then announced that their match was over.
The St. Louis club obtained the 23-year-old Swede with a hostile offer last summer. The Edmonton Oilers decided not to match him and Broberg packed his bags.

As for the match, Colton Parayko (twice), Jordan Kyrou and Pavel Buchnevich (empty net) scored the Blues’ goals. Toronto’s response came from the sticks of Marner and Steven Lorentz.
It was also Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube’s first game in St. Louis since the Blues fired him in December 2023. The 58-year-old was the pilot of the he Missouri team for nearly six seasons and won the Stanley Cup with it in 2019.
