Following the failures of the Montreal Canadiens last week, several observers wondered if Martin St-Louis still had control over his locker room.

This is also the question that Jean-Charles Lajoie asked Renaud Lavoie during the segment “La mise en chess” on the show JiC at TVA Sports. For the latter, you don’t have to look too far to find the answer.
“When there are two minutes left in a game and David Savard blocks two shots rather than one, I’m going to say one thing, there aren’t many guys I know who would block shots for a coach that they don’t like it,” replied Lavoie.
He also gives the example of Josh Anderson who threw down the gloves at the very end of the match against Tom Wilson, one of the most feared pugilists on the Bettman circuit.
“It gives an indication that the guys are still very united and that they want to play for the coach they have behind the bench,” he added.
Friday, St-Louis held a punishing training session after two clear defeats of 8 to 2 and 6 to 3. Towards the end of the session, the coach lined up the players, who then skated in a end to end without a puck, the famous “suicides” in hockey jargon.
