The match between the Laval Rocket and the Providence Bruins will be presented at 8 p.m. on RDS2 and RDS.ca on Friday.
Goaltender Jakub Dobes and forward Alex Barré-Boulet will not be available for the Laval Rocket’s game against the Providence Bruins on Friday evening at Place Bell.
According to a team spokeswoman, Dobes suffered a lower-body injury in the final moments of Wednesday’s game that the Rocket won 3-2 against the Utica Comets at Place Bell.
His case is being evaluated on a daily basis, which means he could be available as early as Saturday, during the second game against the Bruins, which will also take place in the Rocket’s stronghold.
Already, on Thursday, the Rocket announced the recall of goalkeeper Luke Cavallin, from the Trois-Rivières Lions. Cavallin will play the role of assistant to Connor Hughes, who will play a fourth game with the Laval team this season.
Dobes is off to an excellent start to the campaign with four wins in as many games, a goals against average of 2.25 and a save percentage of .910.
Despite a loss to the Springfield Thunderbirds in the first weekend of the season, Hughes is doing a good job in his first professional season in North America.
The 28-year-old goalkeeper has two victories, including one by shutout. His goals against average is 1.69 and his save percentage stands at .939.
In Barré-Boulet’s case, he skipped the Rocket’s training session on Friday morning to undergo a day of treatment related to a recurring lower body injury.
After training, head coach Pascal Vincent confirmed that Barré-Boulet will not be available for the evening meeting.
The Rocket is expected to provide a medical update on Barré-Boulet before the game.
Barré-Boulet joined the Rocket on October 18 against the Syracuse Crunch and was the star of a 5-2 victory in the home opener thanks to a two-goal, two-assist performance.
He leads the team in scoring with eight points, including six assists, in five games. He has a plus-3 defensive ratio.
The Rocket and the Bruins face each other for the second time this season. The two clubs crossed swords in Providence on October 11, and the Laval team scored a 5-2 victory.
Defender Logan Mailloux led the Rocket attack with two goals and two assists.
Mailloux will also be back in the Rocket lineup this evening after obtaining three points in five games with the Montreal Canadiens.
