Trailing by a single goal midway through the second period, the Montreal Canadiens were looking for a spark to reduce the gap. Who else but Cole Caufield to bring new energy.
After a goal denied to the Washington Capitals for offside, Caufield hit the mark, making the score 1 to 1. It was from Nick Suzuki’s office that Caufield beat Charlie Lindgren, the Caps goalie, under the mitt.
This goal is the 10th of the season for the small forward of the CHwho therefore takes the lead among the top scorers in the NHL, sharing it with New Jersey Devils forward Nico Hischier.
Barely 40 seconds later, Brendan Gallagher made the red light shine by deflecting a superb shot from the young gun, Lane Hutson. Many believed that it was Hutson’s first goal.
As I write these few lines, captain Nick Suzuki has tied the score at 3-3 with a one-timer from office Cole Caufield.
After 40 minutes of play in Washington, Lane Hutson recorded two assists, while Suzuki had a goal and an assist. It seems that the team has found its rhythm in this second period and is well into the match.
Time for the third period!
