The elected officials of Saint-Julien-de-Concelles (near Nantes) discussed the sports hall project during the last municipal council. They validated the award of the project management contract to the Maarchitectes group (from Côtes d’Armor).
Regional level sports hall with bleachers
The equipment is awaited by sportsmen in the town, in particular handball players. It will be located next to the Paladin’s roomwithin the sports complex.
The program provides for a regional-level multi-sports hall for handball, volleyball and basketball, with stands for welcoming the public. It is necessary to add to this project, a set of ancillary premises such as changing rooms, toilets, storage areas and a conviviality space.
The equipment “will not be built on stilts”
Located in a flood zoneit will be the subject of casing, which consists of sealing the equipment using specific materials.
The room will also be slightly raised to meet the rules imposed by our current PPRI (Flood Risk Prevention Plan, editor’s note). We are dealing with a so-called moderate hazard and not a strong one as could be defined by the new PPRI which is still being revised and we do not know when it will be put into force. The room will not be built on stilts as was initially planned, but there will be an access ramp due to the elevation.
The opposition voted against
For this deliberation, the opposition elected officials voted against. “This position does not mean that we are against the need to create a new room, quite the contrary, but against the installation of a building in a flood zone generating disproportionate costs,” indicated Thierry Godineau during the session.
The elected officials opted for this “already operational” site.
“We considered the option of building this room elsewhere in a town which, it should be remembered, is 60% in a flood zone, but it would have been necessary to create a parking lot nearby, provide a network (sanitation, electricity )…The options were very limited and there was always something wrong.”
4,4 millions d’euros HT
With casing, the bill is higher than for a traditional sports hall.
The estimated cost is 4.4 million euros excluding tax for this new sports hall, of which delivery is hoped for 2027. “We will submit the building permit application next spring,” adds the elected representative of the majority, who will meet this week with the associations to present the project.
