A few days before the start of the Euro in Germany, on June 14, the continental competition still does not have a paying broadcaster. Discussions continue between UEFA and beIN Sports even if another solution also exists.

As announced by RMC Sport, discussions took place this weekend in London between BeIN Sports and UEFA on the sidelines of the Champions League final. At the heart of the discussions, the broadcast in France of more than half of the Euro 2024 matches (from June 14 to July 14) in Germany.

To date, there is still no agreement between the two parties as the start of the continental competition draws closer. Yousef Al-Obaïdly, the boss of the Qatari media, is very firm in the negotiations and does not wish to increase his latest proposal.

A clear fallback solution for UEFA?

As the competition begins next week, total vagueness continues to surround this issue of Euro 2024 paid matches. Even if BeIN Sports recovers these rights at the last minute, the channel will have difficulty quickly retaining new subscribers.

But also and above all, depending on the media, it will be more difficult to differentiate editorially on the sites (commentator posts, pitchside, etc.). If this blockage persists, UEFA has another solution: a TF1-M6 alliance.

Already holders of the rights for the matches of the French team and several Euro 2024 posters, the two channels came together to formulate an offer around 10 million euros to steal the last matches, to finally broadcast them clear. This offer is no longer on UEFA’s desk today. But the body could, as a last resort, approach the two TNT media to find an agreement.
