The main works on the Grand Stade de Tangier began in the middle of last week, when a group of steel columns were installed and moved to the perimeter of the stadium. These columns will be integrated into the giant iron supports, which will be part of the stadium. the roof of the stadium, part of which should be installed in mid-November.

Large cranes were used to place these columns in the southern part of the stadium, where the supports received by the company in charge of the project were installed, in anticipation of the start of the roofing work.

This delicate process is expected to begin in the presence of Moroccan and foreign experts, as it is considered one of the most complex stages of the rehabilitation of the Tangier Stadium.

In this context, new work began last Friday around the stadium, including the felling of dozens of trees that had been there for years, and these trees will be replaced by dozens of palm trees to improve the aesthetic appearance of the stadium. area.

The sides of the stadium are also undergoing additional works aimed at creating new spaces to facilitate supporters’ access to the stands. Work is also continuing inside the stadium, particularly in the north and north-south stands, where the last construction operations are being completed.

These works include the construction of first-class lounges for a special category of public, in addition to facilities for monitoring security cameras, television commentary areas and lounges for guests of honor.

This work is part of the ongoing preparations to host international football events, especially since the Grand Stade de Tangier is one of the main stadiums which will host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the phase final of the 2030 World Cup.
