Since his takeover of the DC universe in the cinema by James Gunn, fans have been wondering about the future of this DC Universe. We have the movie Superman announced for next year with David Corenswet in the title role, but also Supergirl : Woman of Tomorrow planned for 2026 with Milly Alcock who lends her features to Kal-El’s cousin, without forgetting the project The Brave and the Bold which will honor Gotham’s vigilante. However, there is currently little information on the casting of this new film Batman and we can only imagine which actor would best take on the role of Bruce Wayne. Here are 6 actors who would be perfect in the shoes of the Dark Knight.
#6 Jon Hamm
The 53-year-old American actor is certainly old for the role, but this would give us an aging Batman who would take the other superheroes under his wing. With his imposing physique, natural charisma and ability to play mysterious and tortured characters, like in the television series Man But, Jon Hamm would make a very good choice for a mature and experienced Bruce Wayne but one who would not last long in all the films of the DC universe in cinema.
#5 Oliver Jackson-Cohen
This Franco-British actor made himself known in the Netflix series The Haunting of Hill Housewhere he demonstrated his talent for playing dark and complex characters. With his athletic physique reminiscent of Christian Bale when he took on the Dark Knight costume and a particular elegance (no doubt due to his origins), With Oliver Jackson-Cohen we would have a very good interpretation of the vigilante of Gotham, both charismatic billionaire by day and hunter of thugs by night.
#4 Alan Ritchson
Actor already well known to superhero fans, Alan Ritchson played the role of Aquaman in the series Smallville dedicated to the youth of Clark Kentbut if a certain number of fans of the genre imagine him in the role of Batman, it is mainly following his interpretation in the action series Reacher where he plays a former soldier who investigates criminal cases in a muscular manner. With a build very close to Bruce Wayne from the comics, Alan Ritchson would be very interesting in the role of a Batman in his prime and acting like a big brother to the other superheroes of the DC Universe.
#3 Jacob Elordi
He is the youngest actor in the selectionbut who has already managed to prove his mastery of complex and tormented roles as in the series Euphoria where he played Nate Jacobs, a young man who has a big dark side. Physically, we would also have here a Christian Bale style which would undoubtedly appeal to fans of Christopher Nolan’s trilogy, but much younger and who would be a relatively inexperienced Bruce Wayne, therefore interesting to see gain ground. With Jacob Elordi only three years apart from Milly Alcock – the future Supergirl – the development of the two characters could offer us something new.
#2 Josh Hutcherson
The only reason that didn’t earn him first place is the fact that Josh Hutcherson is “only” 1.70m. Because otherwise, in every other way, he would make a perfect Batman. The American star of the saga Hunger Games is only a year apart from the interpreter of the next Superman. He is dark – like Bruce Wayne in the comics -, very charismatic, masters action roles without sacrificing anything to the dramatic dimension. Josh Hutcherson would simply be an unusual Batman in terms of his size but a carbon copy of the comics in all other aspects of the character.
#1 Taron Egerton
The 34-year-old British actor is no stranger to action films, as he is no less than the star of British-American spy films Kingsmanwhere he plays young Eggsy, the new recruit within an independent British secret service agency. With his natural charisma, his ability to play vulnerable roles when necessary like in the biographical film about Elton John Rocketmanbut also his build that is easy to work with to have the impressive physique of Bruce Wayne and the fact that he is only a few years apart from David Corenswet – the next Clark Kent of the film Superman by James Gunn – Taron Egerton would be simply perfect to play the legendary Dark Knight on the streets of Gotham.
Tell us in the comments section which of these actors you would like to see in the role of Batman for the next film The Brave and the Bold or if another name comes to mind. And while waiting for the big return of James Junn’s DC Universe, don’t miss out on discovering the top 10 of the Dark Knight’s best adversaries.
