The month of October is still not over and many will find that it is still early to think about Christmas… even for good news?
Because if there is an event that is more than appreciable for the finances of someone 2.3 million French peopleas we slide towards New Year’s Eve, it is the payment of the Christmas bonusin December.
Like every year, many households will be scrutinizing their bank accounts within two months to monitor this bonus, which could represent a nice little boost for end of year expenses. And you, are you concerned?
Who is eligible for the Christmas bonus?
Like one-off aid, the Christmas bonus is paid depending on the composition of your household and your eligibility to other social assistance, paid by your Family Allowance Fund (Caf), the Mutualité sociale agricole (MSA) and/or France Travail (formerly called Pôle emploi).
Thus, as the Caf website reminds us, you will receive the Christmas bonus if you received, in November or December 2024:
As we mentioned last year, the beneficiaries of the flat-rate bonus for resumption of activity, the remuneration of Pôle emploi training (RFPE) but also the remuneration of trainees of professional training/public internship remuneration are also concerned. (RSFP/RPS).
What are the premium amounts?
For years, the different amounts Christmas bonus depends on family situation. So, in accordance with the Caf table, you can touch between 150 and 500 euros environ :
- A couple without children: 228.68 euros;
- A couple with a child: 274.41 euros;
- A couple with two children: 320.15 euros;
- A couple with three children: 381.13 euros;
- A couple with four children: 442.11 euros.
Beyond that, it’s 60.98 euros per additional child.
Single-parent families, for their part, have benefited from a little help since last year: a 35% increasedecided by the Ministry of Solidarity and Family. So :
- A single person without children: 152.45 euros;
- A single person with a child: 308.72 euros;
- A single person with two children: 370.45 euros;
- A single person with three children: 452.78 euros;
- A single person with four children: 535.10 euros.
Beyond that, it’s 80.32 euros per additional child.
Aid automatically paid
The Christmas bonus is paid automaticallyusually around December 15. For 2024, the official date has not yet been revealed.
You don’t have to do anything to touch it. However, remember to update your household situation.
If you have the slightest doubt, contact your Caf directly to check your file.
Finally, note that the Christmas bonus is not taxable. There is therefore no need to mention it on your tax return.
