Born in Aubenas, the Ardéchois, who spent his childhood in Etoile-sur-Rhône (Drôme), had a rich career. Trained at OL, the attacking midfielder experienced the end of ’s heyday by winning the French champion title in 2008 alongside Karim Benzema.

He then played several other clubs, , , Bologna and Atalanta Bergamo in Italy, before staying in Greece for six years, notably playing for Panathinaikos. In 2016, he saw his loan to ASSE canceled due to a dispute with Greens supporters.
