CdF: Football festival or big mess, the Bassens-Bordeaux match worries

Next weekend will take place the 5th round of the Coupe de . The Girondins de (N2) will face CMO Bassens (Regional 2).

The draw for the 5th round of the Coupe de France reserved an expected and unusual derby between the Girondins de Bordeaux, who now play in National 2, and CMO Bassens, resident of Regional 2. Obviously a special match for supporters of the two formations but also an entire region. If Bassens would have preferred to play the club as a Ligue 1 or Ligue 2 team, he wants to organize a great party. It is in any case a dream for the president of the Bassens club, Cedric Borie.

The suspense remains for both clubs

Indeed, Cedric Borie has the ambition, with the support of the prefecture and the Metropolis, to find a stadium to bring together as many people as possible. During words exchanged with South Westthe mayor even specifies: “ I want to have a big celebration of Girondin football. Our football is currently suffering, with the demotions of the Girondins, , , the problems in the Aquitaine League. We’re fed up. I would like to bring everyone together: our supporters, the Ultramarines, the North Gate… We will do everything to find a solution so that there is an audience. Otherwise, we will unfortunately play behind closed doors in Bassens. But we will have tried…”. Please note that the Girondins de Bordeaux stadium, Matmut Atlantique, will unfortunately be unavailable next weekend. As potential solutions, Bassens still has the Sainte-Germaine stadium in Bouscat and the Moueix stadium in Libourne. There is therefore some hope for both clubs. The mayor of Bassens, Alexandre Rubio, apparently took matters into his own hands to try to find a positive outcome. Otherwise, it will unfortunately be a big waste. But Bordeaux is starting to get used to it.
