NEWS BFM LYON. A supporter arrested for carrying a prohibited weapon on the sidelines of OL-Nantes

According to information from BFM , a supporter was arrested for carrying a prohibited weapon at Groupama Stadium during the OL- match (2-0) on Sunday.

A fourth consecutive victory to end a great week. It should have been a party on Sunday at Groupama Stadium after OL’s success against Nantes (2-0) on the 7th day of L1. But things degenerated between two groups of Lyon supporters, the Bad Gones and the Six Neuf Pirates.

“Exemplary sanctions” demanded

According to information from BFM Lyon, an individual was arrested at the stadium for carrying a prohibited weapon in addition to these facts. These took place at the final whistle when some members of the Northern Turn would have been waiting at the bottom of the stand where the Six Nine Pirates reside. This violence comes against the backdrop of an emerging antagonism between the new group of supporters (Six Neuf Pirates) and the historic ones (Bad Gones), due to divergent political positions and accusations of racism in recent months.

Laurent Prud’homme, general manager of the club, published a message on X on Sunday to condemn these actions. “Violence, whatever it may be, has no place at OL,” he wrote. “We very firmly condemn the clashes and attacks which took place in the stadium this afternoon. These events are unworthy of our coat of arms. Olympique Lyonnais must remain united and indivisible.”

The Rhône prefecture, for its part, called for “exemplary sanctions” while thanking the national police for their very rapid intervention. The affair took a political turn with a press release from the Rhone deputies of the New Popular Front (NFP) condemning the attack by members of the “Six Nine Pirates”. The party also denounces “the establishment and strengthening of small far-right groups”.

“Monkey cries, Nazi salutes, racist insults and violence before and after matches, on the road and in Lyon, cannot be the image of Olympique Lyonnais. The fight against the establishment of small groups of the extreme right and of their hateful ideology must be done in the stadium and outside So that the stadiums finally become secure places of collective joy, firm and lasting sanctions must be taken against the aggressors of today. We call club, French Federation. of and ministries to fully commit to this.”
