More than a year ago, Charleroi loaned Anthony Descotte to FC Utrecht. He is slowly starting to establish himself there.

Born in Gosselies, Anthony Descotte was one of those young people that Charleroi wanted to highlight to promote local roots. Trained at JS Taminoise, Heppignies-Lambusart-Fleurus, Mons, then Anderlecht and Standard, the striker stabilized at Mambourg at the age of 16.

Called up for the first time by Karim Belhocine in 2021, Descotte has never been able to establish himself as a starter in the first team. In January 2023, Sporting therefore loaned him to FC Utrecht.

In the Netherlands, the former Diablotin (four appearances with the Belgian U21s) did not find much more playing time. This season again, he alternates between the first team and the reserve in the second division.

A card to play in the surprise team of the season?

Joined the game with the A core last week, Descotte earned his very first start of the season yesterday with Heracles. Although he was not decisive, he nevertheless contributed to Utrecht’s 1-0 victory.

The team has the wind in its sails: it has a nice record of 28 out of 33 and is playing spoilsport in the standings with this second place behind the untouchable PSV. Anthony Descotte will it be part of a historical epic?
