Former Girondins de player, François Grenet is elected president of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine League!

This Saturday, November 9, 2024, an important election for was taking place in New Aquitaine. It was, in effect, the election for the presidency for the next four years. A former player of Girondins de
was in the race, in the person of François Grenet. He was opposed to Matthieu Rabby. Out of 1,300 clubs in the region, nearly 890 took part in the vote according to Sud Ouest. The vote was close but it was ultimately the former Bordeaux resident who was elected, with 50.73% of the votes. At 49, he succeeds Said Ennjimiwho was suspended by the French football federation last May.

“I don’t have a career plan. It's the passion, the desire to give back to football what it gave me, and even more importantly. I am lucky, through the journey I have had, to be one of those who managed to break through, to be professional, to make a living from my passion. But like any professional footballer, I started with amateur football, in an amateur club. When I say that it is the clubs that make football, I even want to say that it is the amateur clubs that make our national football. Very clearly. So I come back to where it all began (for me) and I find that symbolically, it is strong. No, I don't have a career plan, I'm giving myself four years, no more. We have a plan, a four-year program, and that’s it. It's giving everything to best serve our football. We are here to serve. My teammates, my team, we are here to serve football and not to use it. »

François Grenet will have the mission of restoring football in the region, easing the tensions that have arisen for some time and restoring dynamism to amateur football. A man close to the field, he therefore knows what to expect in the coming weeks and months.

Yon Ecenarro has already reacted to the victory of the former Marine et Blanc player.
