Top 14 – Brice Dulin (La Rochelle): “On our progress chart, we are good”

Present in front of the press to comment on ’s improved success against (43-22), maritime fullback Brice Dulin is satisfied with the dynamics of this start of the season. He also confirms in passing that Oscar Jegou’s return to competition should not take place before the dismissal of the case in the extra-sporting affair in which the third line from La Rochelle is involved.

The prospect of an improved victory seemed very premature at the break (14-15)…

Possible… The positive point of these last ten minutes of the first half is that we are back on track. We managed to put together some good sequences which put us back into a good dynamic before half-time. They collect points, we score and we have the feeling that by undertaking things, we are putting them in a difficult situation. This is why we chose to take the three points to get back into the lead rather than potentially going into touch. We rebuild our matches and that’s what allows us to come back full force in the second half.

With this “Bomb Squad” (Atonio, Skelton, Hastoy, Lespiaucq, Lavault…) determining, too, upon returning from the locker room…

It’s very good. The staff has been making the team work like this now, for one or two games. You have to be able to adapt to everything. There are no turnovers or tricks: if the player is on the field, it is because he is capable of being there. We are really looking to build as large a group as possible to cover all eventualities throughout the season. So this is one more step that has been taken. The goal now is to be more lucid, to better manage our meetings so as not to be chasing points.

Top 14 – Notes from La Rochelle – Lyon: Paul Boudehent in great form, Davit Niniashvili in a day without

It’s been seventeen months since La Rochelle last won three games in a row in the Top 14. Isn’t that insignificant?

That’s it. But we’re not going to compare to past seasons, it’s a new group. We really wanted to build our start to the season with serenity and above all by gaining strength from the first match without having any air gaps. The most important thing now is to continue to meet great people. We will lose at some point, but there are ways. We need a minimum in the way we play and operate to prepare for any eventuality on the pitch. And above all, we must be able to win each meeting.

This result allows La Rochelle to consolidate its place in the top 6…

When we see how past seasons have gone, I believe that being in the top 6 is not necessarily a truth. But, on our progress chart, we are good. Our progress is constant at the moment. All the points to be taken, they must be taken. This bonus can count and it’s good that we have the physical resources, especially mental, to not give up. It’s not a lame speech but when we see last year, with two days to go, how close it was… it starts now!

The news was in this weekend with the return to the game of Hugo Auradou. How is Oscar Jegou, who returned to training last week, feeling?

He works hard as he always does. Afterwards, we’re like you, we wait a little bit. And we are waiting for the outcome of this affair so that he can rejoin the group definitively.
