The federal basketball coaching diploma is the only recognized diploma allowing full-time coaching in a basketball club. During a weekend, the Caledonian supervisors followed training with a view to obtaining the federal certificate, in Mont-Dore.
Basketball club supervisors were trained this first weekend in May at the Boulari sports hall. Objective: obtain the federal “youth” basketball coach diploma. Each candidate must be at least 16 years old and be licensed in a club. For this third training session, around ten people are registered. Benjamin Guy, development agent for the Caledonian Basketball League, is the trainer.
For Catherine Poithili, general secretary of the Caledonian basketball league, these formations are “one more“for the development of the discipline.”It will allow coaches to supervise their teams within clubs. They will improve their skills and will have the minimum required to coach selections at the basketball league level.“, she explains.
Training began in the North at the beginning of April and will continue until the end of July in the North and South provinces. Three training courses are possible: the “youth”, “adult” or “children” federal certificate.
