There Curve Lake First Nation strives to provide young people with the opportunity to participate in sports and recreational activities in their own community.

Limited access to local recreational facilities can pose a barrier to children and youth wanting to participate in sports – one that community leaders wanted to eliminate.

Today, the head the Curve Lake First NationKeith Knott, and Minister of Indigenous Services, Patty Hajdu, are pleased to announce that Canada and the program Field Of Dreams of the Jays Care Foundation will invest 400 000 dollars in the park’s baseball field Mary Dorothy Jacobs Memorial from the community. SAC invests 300 000 dollars and the Foundation will pay 100 000 additional dollars, since the Curve Lake First Nation is one of the grant recipients Field Of Dreams of the Jays Care Foundation for 2024.

The Jays Care Foundation, the charity of Blue Jays of Toronto, organizes baseball programs for the development of over 59 000 children and youth each year across Canada. Field Of Dreams is the subsidy program of Jays Care which provides funding to design, rehabilitate and construct local baseball fields in communities across the country.

In October 2023, the Curve Lake First Nation and SAC asked the Foundation Jays Care to explore financing possibilities for the renovation of a baseball field. In April 2024, the Curve Lake First Nation was selected as a beneficiary of a grant of Field Of Dreams and will receive funds to support his project. She received 100 000 dollars of Jays Care and 300 000 additional dollars from SAC to renovate the baseball field in his community.

There Curve Lake First Nation is excited and eager to begin renovations to the baseball field Mary Dorothy Jacobs Memorial and plans to continue developing youth baseball leagues within the community. The fields Field Of Dreams are created to be safe, inclusive spaces where communities can connect and children can grow.

SAC continues to develop relationships with charitable foundations, such as the Jays Care Foundationin order to find opportunities to support the youth, culture and recreation of First Nations communities.

The announcement was made on April 30 on the show Blue Jays Central of the Sportsnet network.
