The disciplinary committee of the International Federation accuses the former N.9 of Barça and the Indomitable Lions of having violated the rules relating to “offensive behavior” in “violation of the principles of fair play” and “incorrectness of players and officials.

Eto’o is accused of having put pressure on the officials during the round of 16 lost by the Cameroonians against Brazil (3-1 ap) during the U20 World Cup in Colombia, in Bogota. The Cameroonian delegation notably contested the Brazilians’ equalizing penalty.

Eto’o’s suspension does not concern his duties as president of the Federation but “will prevent him from attending men’s and women’s football matches involving Fécafoot representative teams in all categories or age groups”, Fifa said.

Eto’o, elected president in 2021, is in open conflict with the government. In March, he refused the appointment of the Belgian coach of the men’s A team Marc Brys, wanted by the Ministry of Sports, before bowing.
