Club Brugge has still not managed to secure a victory after bitter defeats against Borussia Dortmund and Ghent. The reigning Belgian champions could not do better than a 1-1 draw against Sporting Charleroi on Friday evening. Several players lost points with their coach Nicky Hayen.

After failures against Dortmund and Ghent, the Belgian champions were keen to get back on track with a victory at Mambourg. In the first half, Bruges created the necessary chances to take the lead. But once again, efficiency in finishing was lacking.

A severe red card

The Club paid the price in the second half. Just after the break, Pafrait Guiagon made it 1-0 for the home team. Shortly after, Bruges found themselves with a man less. Raphael Onyedika was sent off the field following a severe red card. In the end, Hans Vanaken still managed to snatch a point in stoppage time.

But overall, Bruges failed to win. Additionally, things went badly on defense. Especially on the goal.

The fault of the defenders

certainly Guiagon’s finish, with a clever lob, is perfect. But in the action which preceded, Maxim De Cuyper let himself be overwhelmed too easily. Then, Joel Ordoñez did not sufficiently cover attacker Antoine Bernier. Hayen pointed the finger at the guilty duo.

“Maxim loses the duel at 1-0, then Bernier goes through. Ordoñez goes for it, but doesn’t do it sprinting. It’s true. Something like this must happen at full speed,” reports Het Nieuwsblad. “Everyone has to be 100% every time, otherwise it won’t work. Running, working, playing football for each other.”
