The argument on the edge of the pitch between Mohamed Salah and Jurgen Klopp is causing a lot of talk in Liverpool, and is marring the end of the Reds’ season.
This end of Liverpool’s season promises to be painful. While the Reds have seen their dream of a quadruple disappear in the space of a month, and will have to be content with their victory in the League Cup, the draw at West Ham (2-2) on Saturday was marked by the argument along the touchline between Jurgen Klopp and Mohamed Salah.
Obviously, it’s worth seeing the German manager exchange sweet words with the man who was the standout player of his time on the Reds bench. And the English media are torn apart on the subject, with some consultants accusing Klopp of having left his star on the bench for too long, others calling for the departure of the Egyptian this summer so that the Mersey club leaves with a squad new.
Salah’s little sentence
What doesn’t help the situation and sows even more trouble is that we don’t really know what the origin of the problem is. Obviously, it is Salah who would be unhappy to have been left on the bench until the last quarter of an hour, and whose behavior would not have pleased Klopp. Facing the media, the coach proclaimed that the incident was closed, but Salah’s little sentence in front of the journalists (“If I speak, there will be fire”) didn’t really have the desired effect.
