Without too many surprises, it is AJ Auxerre which has the greatest percentage of chances of finishing on the first two steps of the podium. Before this 35th day, AJ Auxerre has an 86.1% chance of finishing as Ligue 2 champion and an 11.5% chance of finishing second, i.e. a 97.6% chance of moving directly into the elite. It’s not bad either for SCO Angers which has only an 8.4% chance of finishing as Ligue 2 champion but a 46.2% chance of finishing runner-up and therefore a 54.6% chance of moving directly into Ligue 1. .
Finally concerning AS Saint-Étienne, it is barely lower with 5.6% chance of finishing champion and 41.6% chance of finishing second in the French Ligue 2 championship, i.e. 47.2% chance of finishing second in the French Ligue 2 championship. chances of finishing in the first two of the ranking and therefore of directly accessing Ligue 1. It is for the moment in third place in the championship, which ASSE currently occupies, that the statistics see the Greens finishing with 48, 2% chance, compared to 43.2% for SCO Angers and 2.4% for AJ Auxerre.
The play-offs seem assured for the Greens and could be so as of this weekend in the event of favorable results. The statistics do not really see AS Saint-Étienne falling below third place in Ligue 2 since the Stéphanois only have, at the moment, a 4.2% chance of finishing fourth. However, these statistics could quickly change, the gaps being thin between the different teams.
It smells very good for Auxerre according to the official Ligue 2 website which specifies that 67% of teams with 64 points or more at this stage of the season in the 21st century have been crowned (18/27) and that 89% of teams having counted at least this total of points at this stage of a Ligue 2 season BKT in the 21st century finished in the first two places (24/27). A statistic favorable to the Greens is also given: the Greens were champions during the two seasons in the division where they reached the 60 point mark after 34 matches (1998-1999; 2003-2004).
