The Scottish Meetings, a major event of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite in France, will be held in Angers on October 5 and 6. Created in 1984, the Scottish Meetings bring together more than 700 delegates each year over two days devoted to listening and sharing a theme linked to spirituality, esotericism or freemasonry.
The theme chosen for this year is “Saying and living the Idea”.
The famous astrophysicist Trinh Xuan Thuan, author of numerous popular science works, winner in 2012 of the world prize from the Simone and Cino del Duca Foundation and guest of honor in 2023, has agreed to sponsor this edition. He will come to exchange with the delegates and share their questions on the Beauty and harmony of the Universe, one of his latest works published by Bouquins in 2022.
For Jack Chopin-Ferrier, president of the Scottish Meetings, “this event allows us to create a space for exchanges and sharing that is unique and common to all components of Scottishness, without distinction of obedience, jurisdiction or gender”.
Prestigious speakers will also come to share their vision of this theme, including professors Robert Redeker (The abolition of the soul, Cerf, 2023), Paul Clavier (The avatars of cosmological proof, Eliott, 2023) and the Swiss philosopher Mark Hunyadi (Universal Declaration of the Rights of the Human Spirit, PUF, 2024).
THE Literary Prize from the Scottish Rencontres (see our article from March 4) is given during the event under the sponsorship of Françoise Schwab, winner in 2023 for her book dedicated to Vladimir Jankélévitch (Albin Michel). This third edition will crown a work whose subject is linked to esotericism, spirituality, philosophy or Freemasonry.
