The prestigious journalist of the MAP agency, Ali Benstitou, died on Saturday, September 21 in Rabat, after battling a long illness.

And here is an emblematic figure of the information press who leaves us, after a brilliant career of almost 40 years, as general coordinator of editorial services, before being assigned the post of bureau chief of the agency in Cairo where he covered, for 20 years, hundreds of national and international events.

The loss of a great professional like Ali Benstitou, who helped us, novice journalists at MAP, to develop our potential and our skills, by providing us with the keys necessary for the success of our journalistic career, is a real shock, not only for the news agency but for the entire journalistic community.

Known for his outstanding skills, the deceased remains a role model for young journalists who are called upon to cultivate their potential and draw inspiration from the ideals he held.

His professional rigor, his self-denial, his immense culture, both political and literary, combined with an unequaled capacity for work, commanded the respect and esteem of all his colleagues.

The deceased is the author, it is recalled, of a work entitled ”Memoirs of a journalist: journey through time and space”, an autobiography retracing the main stages of his professional career.

May he rest in peace. We belong to God and to Him we return.
