MLB: Shohei Ohtani adds his 52nd home run of the season

Returning to Los Angeles after delivering one of the most memorable performances in baseball history on Thursday, Shohei Ohtani added his 52e home run of the season in a 6-4 Dodgers victory over the Colorado Rockies.

In 5e inning, Ohtani threw out Daniel Hudson’s quick pitch from the top of the strike zone, deep into center field for a two-run homer as Max Muncy occupied the bases. At that point, the Dodgers took a 3-2 lead in the game.

Earlier in the game, Ohtani received a warm ovation from the rabid Dodgers fans before receiving another ovation when he hit a home run to first base after a hit.

The day before, Ohtani became the first player in history to reach the 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases plateau in a season thanks to a game of six hits, three home runs, two doubles and two stolen bases.

Ohtani now has four home runs in his last two games and if he continues at this pace, the Japanese could well flirt with the 55/55 plateau, which seemed completely unthinkable a short time ago.

During the game, his teammate Teoscar Hernandez reached the 30-circuit plateau for the second time in his career.
